The SA Weather Service FDI (AI) is updated once daily and is unreliable due to poor map image quality — we are seeking a better data source. The Calculated FDI is updated throughout the day from third-party weather data (Open-Meteo, WeatherAPI.com). Always verify with official sources.

SA Weather Service FDI (AI Estimate)

How this works: The AI locates Broederstroom on the SAWS FDI map by triangulating between Rustenburg, Pretoria, and Johannesburg, then finding the NW/Gauteng provincial boundary. It identifies FDI colour zones on both sides of the boundary and estimates a blended value using spatial interpolation (65% NW side, 35% Gauteng side), adjusting toward the higher index near colour transitions for a conservative safety margin.
