How this works: The SAWS FDI map image is downloaded and the pixel colours at the Broederstroom area are sampled directly — one point on the North West province side and one on the Gauteng side of the provincial boundary. Each colour is matched to an FDI category and a blended value is calculated (65% NW side, 35% Gauteng side), with a conservative adjustment toward the higher index when the two sides differ.
